more music
it’s the end of term at college - so there has been a lot of marking of exams, marking of projects, applying for grants and planning next year. hence no posts on here.
the good news is that the land sale has gone through. MUCH more about this soon!
but as i’ve been working away i’m listening to the many excellent radio stations on the web. just have a look at shoutcast and icecast for a good start. make sure you have broadband and a compatible music player (my favorite is foobar 2000 which has recently usurped winamp on windows)
many of these streams are at 160kbps. the vorbis streams especially are way better than fm quality. so what if you come across a tune you love? why not commit it to your hard disk with the very excellent streamripper. this has the massive advantage over something like total recorder in that it is free and more importantly does not re-encode the file. thus there is no loss of quality. enjoy!

rob kindly gave me the complete fall peel sessions. six cd’s of marvellousness. in particular i was excited to see that on cd 3 track 3 is the obscure b side ’spoilt victorian child’…
…excited because for the last few weeks i have been thoroughly enjoying spoiltvictorianchild.co.uk which among many other wonderful downloads led me to primal scream remixed. this is awesome - if you have broadband - download it now. (if you don’t already use bittorrent then i recommend azureus.)
john peel fans will love teenagekicks3000.com. briony and i definitely talked about recording and archiving as many shows as possible - but it always seemed like he’d always be there… thanks to these wonderful people who are actually doing it. maybe one day there will be a complete archive of all shows available?
looks like mp3 blogging is a very good new phenomenon. svc is one of my favroties but the bookmark list of quality alternatives is growing daily and i’ve got my eyes peeled
for more. let me know if you’ve got a personal favorite.
p.s. you should also check out magoo’s new album - popsongs - i’ve yet to get it but the samples sound great - they just keep getting better. almost makes me miss norfolk. (oh - and a nice site by one of the blackbourn web trinity.)
