in [march i linked to info.](index.php?p=22 “software patents and eu law”) about european software patents.

in [july i celebrated](http://www.irishdev.com/NewsArticle.aspx?id=756 “patents binned”) that the proposed eu patent law was rejected by a near unanimous vote.

however [richard stallman](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Stallman “stallman in wikipedia”) has written an excellent [piece in the guardian](http://www.guardian.co.uk/online/comment/story/0,12449,1540984,00.html “richard stallman in the guardian”). well worth reading and if you use Free software, support the ongoing campaign.
