if i was to invest in a pension fund today i’d be expecting economic growth to increase the size of the fund over the next 30 years before i retire. unfortunately for anyone foolish enough to be investing in such a fund just now, this won’t happen:
“if our economy grows at 3% between now and 2040, we will consume in that period economic resources equivalent to all those we have consumed since humans first stood on two legs”
better to get busy building local resilience and encouraging children to stick around to look after us – just as most people in non-industrialised cash poor countries currently do.
