Don't forget that rich people also contribute to the economy. Obviously, like everyone rich or poor, they pay as little tax as legally possible and I agree that they can afford to employ accountants to find the loopholes, but they do still pay taxes. Please note I am not talking about people who avoid tax ILLEGALLY.

Also, I would say that 31bn is not a "drop in the ocean" compared to 51.5bn (see above for context). It's over half.

I also think that you will find that many "rich" people contribute huge amounts to charities - this is of course tax deductible but they are contributing to something which, in their eyes at least, is worthwhile. I worked for a charitable organisation once and nearly all our money came from so-called rich people.

But I do think, perhaps, you should write about the London Olympics. Now THERE's a subject about misuse of money!

We're pretty lucky here in Oxford that we get milk delivered to our door by milkfloat (I occasionally hear it at about 3am). Due to demand, we even get organic milk in bottles (a couple of years ago they would only do organic milk in cartons).

But for the most amazing life-after-milk transformation, check out the incredible Earth Rover One - we were at a festival a few weeks ago and were amazed at his huge range of renewable energy generation techniques on display - and of course he used them to fill up his batteries to drive there and back at a sedate and civilised 10 miles per hour!

I loved in the Young Ones where he got one over on Vivian somehow and he said triumphantly, with a snort "Ha! Take that, so-called Vivian!". Don't know why, but it still makes me giggle.

Very funny! My favourite Ali G moment is when he is talking to Buzz Aldrin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTKedyQQkZQ)... "do you think man will ever walk on the sun?".... "no, the sun is too hot, it is not a good place to go to"... "what would happen if they went in the winter when the sun is cold?"...
The house looks great... well done...

I found my way here looking for a forest garden in Aberdeenshire. You are obviously on the same tip, but on another island! Can you help me find this place? I am currently planting such a garden in Perthshire, so it would be wonderful to speak to someone having done something similar nearby.
Hopefully,
Miles

Ah, don't be such a doom-monger! According to Gordon Brown in this Guardian article, China is "part of the solution". Why? Because they are building "a low-carbon fossil fuel power station".

Yes, that's right, one whole low-carbon power station! That should cancel out those 2000twh no problems.

Ummm, by the way, can anybody actually tell me what a "low carbon fossil fuel" power station actually is without using the word 'oxymoron'...?

Just read the Wikipedia article on Freecycle which explains more about why it's nowhere near as good as it could be. And they still have 4 milllion members. I see an opportunity for a startup here!
